Good day. Allow me to express my whole hearted thanks to our President Samuel Gomez for his exemplary leadership. I would maintain that thanks is the highest form of thought, and leading with compassion is the essence of his leadership. Pres, walang sino man humihingi ng pagre-resign mo. Ikaw pa rin ang presidente ng BBPA class.In matter of principle stand like a rock.

Thanks to Mr. Vice Roger Abada. Thank you very much for creating this yahoogroups, the best tool that opens our lines of communication. From day one to the last term it served not only as bulletin board or messenger of fresh and crisp updates but here lies our mind and heart, the reflection of our thought and ideas the strong passion for learning.

Thanks to our treasurer Lita Reyes who managed our resources, a profession built on the foundation of financial disciplines. Hindi mo man sabihin Litz alam ko marami ka ring abono bukod pa sa effort ng paniningil sa klase. Thank you sa lahat ng pasensiya.

Kay Oliver Quiambao na athletic ang dating at mahilig sa FHM kasama ang cute na si Romer Camba. Ang pakyut na si Dave Omictin na kayang pataubin ang pinakamagandang speech. Ang mabait na si Ace Sunglao na talagang maasahan. Ang entrepreneur na si Cres Romero at ang kanyang produktong Alkaline. Kay Renato Macapagal na kinakitaan ko ng malalim na pananaw sa buhay. Kay Jeff del Rosario na gentleman at mabait kasama. At kay Bobby Ferrer na naging instant popular higit pa kay Bobby Pacquiao. Salamat sa magandang samahan.

Thank you din kay Sheila San Jose na tumataas ang performance level. Magiging matagumpay ka sa iyong career. Kay Mel Cabalic na sa tingin ko ay may potential sa sales and marketing. Kay Kath Aguilar na marami pa ring gustong marating sa buhay. Kay Jenny Manansala na kinakitaan ko na positibong pananaw sa buhay.

Thank you rin kay Luisito Urbano ng BSP sa pagiging cool at tatahi-tahimik pero maraming nakaimbak na joke at pasabog. Kay Angelo Decena na kakikitaan ng magandang karakter. Kay Jun Parico na maganda ang tindig, artistahin ang dating. At siyempre pa, kay Brod Allan Santiago na magaling sa accounting, utang ko sa kanya ang bilog-bilog kahugis ng itlog sa Financial Statement.

Thanks kay Ricobaby Manalang sa ipinakitang tatag ng loob. Kay Noel Nava sa mga punchline, ang papaya at banana na nagbigay ng sigla sa klase. Kay James Catapang na tahimik, malinis sa pananamit at magalang. Kay Sir Noel Cursod na madalas mapagkamalang propesor sa kanyang pangalan, pero tsampiyon din sa kabaitan.

Thank you rin sa lagi kong kasama na si Jaylee Cruz na mahilig magpa-upload ng pictures kahit during higlights ng exam. Kay Roselyn Corpuz na sobrang bait at walang ere, ang pagsasalo namin sa champorado at puto sa oras ng tanghalian. Sa mga nakakaaliw na lakaran. Sa walang kapantay na samahan.

Maybe each of us has its own brand of image and differences but still I believed that we have one goal--- goodluck to Compre Exam and Happy Graduation.

Dean Eloisa Macalinao has remarkably exuded an exemplenary sense of competence, professionalism and quality teaching.
When I learned that the next professor in Taxation subject is the dean of CME, my perception is that her strictness will enforced us proportional knowledge contribution or imposed burden upon subject for the purpose of raising up grades.

Taxation subject is not taxing at all. With Dean Macalinao, Outstanding Employee of PLM, Model Adviser of Economics Society, she squeezed out the best from us, to performed our tasks and met the challenge to academic excellence, as well as responsiveness to fast-changing social environment.

Now, we understand not only the nature, scope, characteristics, principles and limitations of a sound system of taxation, the sources of tax law but also the responsibility to pay tax and exercise our right in a civil society.

Prior to this event is the book launching of Dr. John Lent's The Philippine First 100 Years of Komiks and Cartoons held in Powerbooks, SM Megamall. Why is it an American author is the one who visualized and initiated to write history of Philippine comics? Dr. Lent passion for comics and Filipino culture are some of the reasons why. Comics as legitimate art form is a reality to look forward to. I'm glad to be a part of his book.

The government declared a "state of calamity".
Huge traffic jams clogged the roads in the capital as floodwaters caused many vehicles to stall….monstrous trafiic jam….several homes have been submerged in floods, TV networks showed a dramatic video of people crying for help, roofs of damaged houses being swept away by the suburban Marikina River.
Radio DZMM reported about a wall, weakened by floodwaters, collapsed in a suburb of Manila.
One of the three airport terminals in Manila was forced to cancel and divert flights after the flooding hampered its electrical system.
These were the damaged as Tropical Ondoy battered Luzon on Saturday. The storm, bearing winds of 85 kilometres (53 miles) per hour with gusts of 100 kph, hit the main island of Luzon near the town of Infanta at about 0200 GMT Sunday, moving west at 19 kph, the weather station said.
Government weather forecaster said the equivalent of one month's worth of rain fell on the city in less than a day.
We knew there would be rain but not like this. In 6 hours time it almost flooded the country. About 13.4 inches (34.1 centimeters) of rain fell on metropolitan Manila in just six hours, close to the 15.4-inch (39.2-centimeter) average for the entire month of September. After forty years ngayon lang uli naulit na bumagyo na ganito kataas ang tubig. At hindi handa ang tao sa pagragasa ng tubig.
Flooding was reported in many districts and on roads reported with waters in some areas reaching as high as the rooftops of one-storey buildings, the civil defence office said. Hardly hit were place like Pateros, Pasig, Rizal, Marikina, Antipolo, and some part of Quezon City, Bulacan, Laguna.

In hard time like this be brave, show the strenght of human spirit. Sa mga sakuna at kalamidad na gaya nito ay laging nakaantabay ang National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC), Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD), mga NGO's, Foundations, private sectors at iba-ibang tulong na ang pangunahing misyon ay sumagip ng buhay.
Sa mga naapektuhan ng pananalasa ng bagyo at mga kalamidad sana po ay tatagan natin ang ating mga loob. There is always a silver lining behind the dark clouds. Isa sa katangian natin bilang mga Pilipino ay kaya natin sagupain ang ilan man bagyong dumarating. Manahan tayo at hunawak sa Dakilang Lumikha. Pag-asa laban sa pag-asa.

Today, we commemorate the martyrdom of Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.
Based on his undelivered speech: In a revolution there can really be no victors, only victims. We do not have to destroy in order to build.
On one of the long corridors of Harvard University are carved in granite the words of Archibald Macleish:
“How shall freedom be defended? By arms when it is attacked by arms; by truth when it is attacked by lies; by democratic faith when it is attacked by authoritarian dogma. Always, and in the final act, by determination and faith.”
The love story of Ninoy and Cory is the story that will end up all love story. Until Cory's last breath his love for Ninoy inspired the world.
Corazon Aquino was the eleventh President of the Philippines. She is known to be the global icon of democracy while her husband,the late Senator Benigno Aquino is considered the best president the Philippines never had.
As I surf the net I traced Cory's family tree and this is what I found out.
THE FAMILY TREE OF CORAZON COJUANGCO AQUINO:
The beginnings of the Cojuangco family can be traced back to Hong Chian town in Tongan province, China. Former President Corazon Aquino’s,great grandfather was the first generation of the Cojuangco clan that came to the Philippines in 1861. His name formerly, Mr. Co Yu Hwan converted to Catholicism when he came to Manila and was baptized Mr. Jose Cojuangco. He married Antera Estrella, a Filipina and settled in Malolos. The whole family tranferred to Tarlac.
My grandparents Estrella clan also came from Malolos, Bulacan and most relatives settled in Tarlac and Pangasinan the like of Congressman Conrado EstrellaIII.
I also met Captain Jaime Estrella in NAIA.
They were the icons of peace and democracy.
Hope in my veins flow the blood of a hero.

Is there a need to change English to Filipino as medium of instruction?
To the context of globalization we need to learn English and other international language to be global competitive. Jobs today are increasingly requiring workers who can interact with those who speak languages other than English and who can adapt to a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Individuals who speak, read, and understand more than one language can communicate with more people, read more literature, and benefit more fully from travel to other countries.
Wala namang masamang matuto ng ibang lengguwahe, dagdag kaalaman pa nga ito pero hindi ibig sabihin ay ikokompromiso natin ang sariling wikang Filipino.
Dapat pa rin pagtuunan sa mga eskuwelahan ang wastong paggamit,wastong pagbigkas ng ating sariling wikang Filipino. Ang taong nagmamahal sa sariling wika ay may dignidad at yaman ng bansa.

The President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo delivered her State Of The Nation Address (SONA).

"I will defend democracy with arms when it is threatened by violence; with firmness when it is weakened by division; with law and order where it is subverted by anarchy; and always, I will try to sustain it by wise policies of economic progress, so that a democracy means not just an empty liberty but a full life for all….
I never expressed the desire to extend myself beyond my term. Many of those who accuse me of it tried to cling like nails to their posts….
I am accused of misgovernance. Many of those who accuse me of it left me the problem of their misgovernance to solve. And we did it….
I am falsely accused, without proof, of using my office for personal profit. Many of those who accuse me of it have lifestyles and spending habits that make them walking proofs of that crime….
We can read their frustrations. They had the chance to serve this good country and they blew it by serving themselves….
Those who live in glass houses should cast no stones. Those who should be in jail should not threaten it, especially if they have been there….
Our administration, with the highest average rate of growth, recording multiple increases in investments, with the largest job creation in history, and which gets a credit upgrade at the height of a world recession, must be doing something right, even if some of those cocooned in corporate privilege refuse to recognize it….
Governance, however, is not about looking back and getting even. It is about looking forward and giving more—to the people who gave us the greatest, hardest gift of all: the care of a country."

Inulan na naman kahapon ng batikos ng mga hindi kaalyado ng Pangulo ang SONA. Her detractors accussed her administration of massive corruption. Lack of transparency. Poor regulatory environment. Poor justice system. Cronyism. Hunger with power, the author to rewrite Constitution and shift to a Parliamentary System that will allow her to remain in power. If we took at the bright side, marami naman nagawa ang Pangulo na puwede pa nga niyang ipamana sa susunod na liderato. She is a working President. Sino ba namang lider ang ayaw magkaroon ng Strong Republic?
We need to elevate the standard of public service, this is possible if leader is honest and has integrity, who will set aside personal ambition for the good and welfare of the Filipino people. Good governance means good public service.

Saturday, 9AM, I was there in Pamana Bedista Multimedia Room to joined the batch of BBPA students, San Beda College Manila in partnership with Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila opened a degree program in Bachelor in Business and Public Administration for non-academic personnel.
Back to school, after a long time. The value of education is a lifetime treasure.
Public administration can be broadly described as the development, implementation and study of branches of government policy. The pursuit of the public good by enhancing civil society, and effective public service.
I have no political ambition. But as a citizen of this country I have social responsibility, the desired change in society, bring forth the critical social issues and encouraged to solved them.
PA are related to the democratic values of improving equality, justice, security, public service.
PA course is good for future leader,trained to become person who would uphold accountability, transparency, dedication and excellence in work; who would place the interests of the nation above his own; who would breathe efficiency, effectiveness and economy; to become, in short, public servant.

The Philippine Declaration of Independence occurred on June 12, 1898 where Filipino revolutionary forces under General Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine Islands from the colonial rule of Spain after the latter was defeated at Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War.

IT is comprised of computers, networks, satellite communications, robotics, video text , cable television, electronic mail, electronic games, and automated office equipment.

But the basic concept is to learn the value of work, transmit goodwill and kindness, and receive data of honesty and integrity.

She needs assurance from people around her that she is loved how much she is worth. Horse person advocates for justice, truth and equality, she wants to live a meaningful life.

IF I have I chance to chose parents, I still chose my Tatay and Nanay. I am not born by accident, I was born out of love. And I don't have to submit DNA or parentage blood testing in order to assure my identity because I resembled exactly my father's face. My father was the first man who said I am pretty and smart. He treated me with respect and fairness.

My father which I fondly called Tatay is a civil engineer. He worked in Philex Mining, Benguet and Aramco, Saudia Arabia. He is a good mathematician. He died at the age of 60.

My mother which I called Nanay is the daughter of a priest, a priest who was also a magician and psychic healer. Her mother is a German (surname is Bredy), killed by strayed bullet during Japanese occupation here in the Philippines. She has a good genes, I wondered why she never grew old compared to women same her age.

I am one of the product of that genetic makeup.

Between two competing job.

Roan is having trouble on what opportunity to choose. She was offered to work as executive secretary of Mr.Cheng, Vice President of Starcruises Manila; at the same time her US visa was approved and scheduled to join world cruise this second week of March. This is a very tough decision, the one steps up career ladder and the other one pays better.
She needs a zone of logic to decide. She knows she need to choose, but don’t know how. Newport City near the NAIA airport soon to open Marriott and Maxims Hotels, wherein the luxury Maxims Hotel will signify the entry of this luxury brand of the Malaysian-based Genting Group through its affiliate Starcruises Ltd. here in the country.

If she works in luxury ship her joining port is in Florida, USA.

In this time when economy seems somewhat shaky right now, the so-called economic meltdown and the roller coaster that the stock market has become, the job market for Roan is still strong.

She has lots of choices, lots of options. This is good. She created all these choices because she is educated, smart, has good personality, God-fearing, and love her family so well.

I am proud of my daughter.

Today, she will be signing contract on world cruise. We exchange text messages and calls, still having to choose between two competing job offers.

Prayer is the answer to all decision in life. May God leads her to the right path.

MAALAALA MO KAYA, the longest drama anthology on TV is also an award winning drama series comes to life on radio narrated by Ms. Charo Santos-Concio, the President of Abs-Cbn.

Thanks to Mr. Neil Ocampo who paved me the way to meet the Executive Producer of MMK (DZMM), the ever dedicated Mr. JR Antonio. The good thing about Mr. Antonio, he is very supportive and encouraged talent to strive for excellence. He introduced me to Director Josie Galvez.

My first radio script assignment was The Rene Cayetano story. A true-to-life story of the good senator who suffered from life-threatening disease. His son Celino donated his liver to save his father's life. What we learned from Companero Cayetano is not death but the richness of life. Kept fear to himself but showed courage to others. Sa oras na iginupo ng krisis sa kalusugan pamilya pa rin ang tunay na sandigan.
The story of Basket dealt with violation against men.

Maskara was about medical malpractice in cosmetic surgery.

Lata was about child labor.

Salamin was the story of an ugly duckling turned into dignified woman. Nothing is impossible to the man who can will.

Ang Baraha ay istorya ng mga taong inaasa ang kapalaran sa sinasabi ng bituin, ng guhit ng palad, ng hula ng baraha. Isang pekeng manghuhula na pati sarili ay napaniwala na isa nga siyang psychic, clairvoyant.

Ang Takong ay istorya naman ng isang pasaway na ina. Kung puwede nga lang bang paluin ng anak ang kanyang ina ginawa na niya. Ang Dolyar. Ang Kalembang. Ilan lang sa paglalarawan ng tunay na buhay.

Maganda sana ang buhay pero kung minsan ay pinapapangit ito ng mapapait na karanasan.

Sa kabila nang lahat ay pag-asa, hope over fears. Pag-asa laban sa pag-asa.

In radio script, a good story creates substance and engaging character and sustain the interest of an audience or listener. There are three things a listener hear in radio drama: dialogue, music and sound effect. Kailangan siyempre ang clarity of idea. In terms of audio, it creates crisp vivid visuals in the mind of the listener. Timplado ang elements of sounds, music, words, and silence. Music can act as the stage curtain.

When drama plays in radio, the melody was almost regretful in tone, and lyrics is pleading with nature. Ang dialogue, music, sound effect na binibigyan ng buhay ng mga sikat na talento sa radio.

Siya pa itong naglakad sa init ng araw habang nakasakay sa malamig na Fx ang isa.

The clock stop again. All eyes glued to the big screen while watching the dream fight of Manny “Pacman” Pacquaio and “Golden Boy” Oscar de la Hoya.
Pacquiao won again over De La Hoya after eight rounds Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, 1 PM Filipino time.
Pacquiao, dressed in red robe, white and blue of the Philippine flag, went directly to his corner, where he kneeled for several seconds in prayer. He was followed into the ring by Oscar De La Hoya, the only man to win world titles in six weight classes.
The aggressive Pacquiao keep his distance, neutralizing De La Hoya's strength while taking advantage of his own speed and stamina in round one, Pacquiao continued to fight straight ahead.
Pacquiao, just missing with an uppercut about 30 seconds into the bout. Pacquiao wasn't backing down, through, throwing some punches.
Halfway through the round, the two fighters exchange combinations but Pacquiao seemed to get the better of the exchange, and he snaps De La Hoya's head back with a right hand.

Hindi na nga alam ni de la Hoya kung saan nanggagaling ang mga suntok ni Pacquiao.
De La Hoya's counter attacks appear desperate, the heavier, stronger De La Hoya has been no match for him so far. Pacquiao is clearly the better fighter so far that has his foe backing up.
After backing him into a corner, Pacquiao got off another series of punches with De La Hoya. De La Hoya is backed into a corner again where Pacquiao nailed him with a hard left head, then a right to the body and so on and so forth. The cinematic fight I only see in the movie, visual effect on comics.

Pacquiao fighting style reminds me of comics superhero, habang binubugbog at nasasaktan lalong lumalaban.
Technically there is no round nine.
De la Hoya quit.
Pacquiao won the fight.

World AIDS Day

An award-winning novel.
Ang Aking Buhay (Ikaw ang aking Buhay) is a story of great love of husband to his ailing wife. Violy is a faithful wife but in the practice of her profession as medtech she acquired the virus through blood-blood contact.

When I wrote this book, I understand people living with AIDS in a much higher level. The words are given a distinctive human voice, the image are given a distinctive human face.
Intravenous drug users. Recipient of infected blood and organ. Sexual partner with HIV. Infant children of infected mothers. Men who had sex with men. Commercial sex workers. Multiple sex partner.

Each image has a story to tell.

What we learn from them is not death, it is the richness of life, that show strenght of the human spirit, they want to breath their last breath with dignity.
This book was awarded as best novel by AIDS Society of The Philippines and Ford Foundation, USA. I became media delegate in 5th ICAAP held in World Trade Center, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Pigilan Natin Ang Gabi by Randy Valiente also won in novel category.

Based on the number of people living with HIV has risen from around 8 million in 1990 to 33 million today, and is still growing. Around 67% of people living with HIV are in sub-Saharan Africa.
During 2007 more than two and a half million adults and children became infected with HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), the virus that causes AIDS. By the end of the year, an estimated 33 million people worldwide were living with HIV/AIDS.
The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) released their 2008 Report on the global AIDS epidemic, which indicated, among other things, that new HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths have declined in recent years. Still, this figure is very alarming.

Everyone is at risk. In the world of AIDS everybody should be responsible. Practice safer sex.

Media should be sensitive and sensible, not sensational about public health crisis.
Correct and accurate information for those at risk is the best line of defense.

LATAY SA DANGAL, episode of life touched the pages of Pilipino Komiks way back on September 11, 1994.

The drama of life unfold the story of a family ruined by alcoholic father and unfaithful mother. Alcoholism not only brought mental conflict but also created domestic violence. Home became warzone, children grew in pain and sufferings.

Drama intended to portray life or character, story involved conflict and emotions.

At the end, there is always a silver lining behind the dark clouds.

This was my first big break as komiks' novelist. And this story had caught the interest of Seiko Film.

This is the first time komiks used painting as medium in cover illustration (in novel), by famous artist Jo Luna, who reinvented himself as animator in the USA.

This is the start of my career as komiks editor.

Thanks to Miss Ofelia Concepcion the most respected editor in Atlas Publication who believed in my talent. She is fondly called Tita Opi by writers and artists, she became so well-loved by her peer , she had a balanced view of life. And whatever I achieved in my writing career I owe it to her.

Buhay Pa Ba Ako?

That day, I cheated death.
I committed suicide when I was 15. I took up 14 pills, 500 mg. each. Extreme emotions, depression, shame, fear, guilt, feeling hopeless, total waste, all the factor that trigggered my suicidal thoughts. I am so depressed that time nobody knows how deeply I was hurt. Shame because at my tender age I engaged in early marriage. Fear of uncertaintly. Guilt for breaking my promise to my father who's only wish is for me to have a good life. He sacrificed to work in a far distant land only to give us all the best things in life. I am his favorite daughter. I brought honor to the family. I was a consistent honor student.

And a total failure.

That day, I felt it almost as a lost entity darkly drawing me into an eternal vacuum of death. I saw death. And I cheated death?

Why am I still alive?

I woke up, and saw the figure of a man dressed in white( doctor) beside me in a hospital bed. He told me: Your not smart. Smart people never commit suicide. Then I heard a cry, junior students brought that amulet like thing to me. They whispered: This medal is for you. You won in feature writing competition regional level. I smiled. Then I slept.

I haven't have a clue to how my story will end. A day above the ground is always better?

Until this day, the memory of my father haunts me.

My father who's only wish is for me to have a good life.

Good education. Good family.

Not early marriage. Not mediocrity.

This is the price I have to pay.

Broken dreams.

Broken marriage.

My father died a lonely man.

And I am dying many times because of this guilt.

Today, people offers prayer of gratitude and remembrance to their departed one.

To my father, forgive your loving daughter.

Horror Stories

That day you saw horror on my face is the day I had no fear.

"Bago pa man ako tumapang ay natuto na akong matakot."

What makes horror literature so pervasive is that it needs to evoke atmosphere of fear. Horror for me is not only dealing with supernatural also with normal. Sometimes normal people is scary when behaved strangely. I wrote so many horrifying characters. The glass voodoo witch, black magician, evil-twin, psychic investigator who sees death, sleepwalker who is like dead man walking, a chef who cooked human stew. The story of a surgeon and forensic psychologist who tried to find out what is inside the brain of a criminals like Jack the Ripper, Freddie Kruegger, Jason and other serial killers. The surgeon has found what he called "a cookie-cutter syndrome," a striking similarity in serial killers. The behaviour of the brain had strong urge to kill. At the end he became a killer doctor. My favorite and my very owned Psychic Vampire, instead of blood the vampire sucks the strenght of the human spirit.
Horror fiction intended to thrill readers by provoking fear, exposing horrifying experience, gruesome , violent, supernatural events.

But horror by nature is a personal touch, an intrusion into our comfort levels.

I write for horror with this intention to face your fear.....confront the unknown. And to collect my talent fee. Hek-hek-hek!

A good comics script has appeal to the readers. Good plot, well-researched script. Characters have backbone. Title is catchy. Remarkable.

Writer and artist has rapport. Dynamic layout. The character and scene are visual, moving.

The main goal of comics as part of popular literature is to entertain, to bring characters into life.

Writer has responsibility to the reading public. And so the artist.

As a writer, I compete with myself for excellence. The more I see best result, the more inspired to write story with social relevance, human interest.

I am a dreamer. I wish upon the star. I believe in magical things. I see the world in different angles. My brain sees something that my eyes refused to believe.
I am fascinated by children's story. I have a lot of fun writing for children. It requires vivid imagination, creativity and the ability to put oneself in the mind of a child. You have to know the child’s love, hates, interests and fears....
I wrote stories for Charm. Charm is all about witches story, not the usual ugly-faced old hag with voodoo dolls but a good one (?) Anyway, I am a witch, a good witch. Together with artist Tina Francisco we created kid fighters in MAGIC CARD, the story evolved on three kids playing magic cards, then a mysterious character appeared, the monster reborn. This monster named Ludovic, a wicked spirit created by a hateful soul dwells in a world of dreams. The distance between dream and reality is completely blown apart. The story had some sort of conflicts and obstacle that the main characters had to resolve. By the power of combined prayer, unity, sound mind and a sound body the attack force of good triumphed over evil. Kids love adventures and heroes. When the story is scary I inject humor to the scene and character to entertain kids like creating characters of jolly mythical creature, playful and flirty dragon. For those who are always young-at -heart , writing children's book is a very rewarding craft.

Woman of Wisdom

A wise person has self-knowledge.

In positive psychology expert have defined wisdom (psychological perspective) as the coordination of knowledge and experience use to improve well-being.

Its really surprising when a group of sophomore students from Cavite National Science School visited me and conducted an interview about my family customs, belief, talent, values, inspiration, principle and how those factors affect my vision in life.

In their English class, they discussed about Confucius sayings until Teacher Ligsa assigned them to interview a woman of wisdom.

Why me?

It takes a firmed hand to let them know that I am not a woman of wisdom,

but I can share views and wisdom in my own little way.

Confucius stated that wisdom can be learned by three methods: Reflection (the noblest), imitation (the easiest) and experience (the bitterest). According to "Doctrine of the Mean," Confucius also said, "Love of learning is akin to wisdom. To practice with vigor is akin to humanity. To know to be shameful is akin to courage.

I am still hunger for knowledge.

Even the wise man Socrates said, "At the age of 70 I knew nothing."

I wrote a story about leader who is obssesed in history. In the line of battle against plaque, he declared the nation under siege and asked his soldiers to kill all garbage enemy of that state including people with deadly virus and aging brain. A nation free of any killer diseases of modern times, free of ignorance with citizens having an IQ of at least 180. In the name of science, what so called Human Genome Project they created battalion of test tube babies free from genetic diseases and having an artificial intelligence. Wonder babies. The dangerous mind. The very character of this leader, whose ambition it seems is as huge as his ego, called himself by many different names, Godot the Great, Hero, God. At the end, he is the most shameful leader in global history.

Tonton is a hilarious cartoonist who has out of this world character. Sa kabila ng pagiging engot ay may power si Tonton, he brings cartoon characters into life. The story with mystical elements, magic, and supernatural forces, futuristic, from a simple comics super cartoon hero evolved in animation and computer generated images.
Napakaganda ng visual effect kung magkakaroon ng hininga sa animated film. Ang tangenge at marusing na si Tonton ay sakit ng ulo ng kanyang bos na si Bon Datkom. Mapaglaro ang tadhana dahil lagi naman silang pinagtatagpo, matapos magsara ang publikasyon ng komiks ay nagsama uli sila sa animation studio. Laging magkakontra. Kasama sa maraming teksbuk sa Filipino ang kanyang mga nagkagantimpalang akda, aktibo siya sa pagtuturo ng wika at panitikan sa MLQ University (1965-1972), Philippine College of Commerce (1971-72), Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (1974-77), Ateneo de Manila University (1977-78) at sa De La Salle University. Naging pangulo ng Kapisanan ng mga Propesor sa Pilipino (KAPPIL, 1986-88), at Linangan ng Literatura ng Pilipinas (Literary League of the Philippines) at direktor ng Philippine Folklore Society. Ngayon, nagturo sa graduates schools ng PUP, at UPH-D. At hawak niya ang tropeo bilang Outstanding Caviteno sa larangan ng Panitikan.

Kasama rin si Eros Atalia, na humakot ng karangalan sa patimpalak ng Gawad Balagtas, Talaang Ginto, Gawad Soc Rodrigo, Gantimpalang Collantes sa Sanaysay at Unang Gantimpala sa Pagsulat ng Tula ng Panday Lipi, Ink, at Unang Gantimpala mula sa Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature sa Maikling Kuwento. Si Eros ay may Master of Arts-Language and Literature, Filipino sa DLSU; Bachelor of Secondary Education, Major in Filipino sa Philippine Normal University.

At si Abdon Balde Jr., ang inhinyerong manunulat na naging Executive Council ng NCCA, Bise Presidente ng UMPIL. Nanalo pa siya ng Rokwang Ibalong Bikol Achievement Award for Literature, National Book Award, at Palanca Awards. Ilan lang sa kanyang mga aklat na isinulat----Hunyango sa Bato, 2004 National Book Award for Best Fiction at Juan C. Laya Best Prize for Novel, Mayong, 2003 National Award for Best Fiction, Kagubatan sa Isang Lungsod at Mga Panagarap na Pangitain.

Isang karangalan para sa akin ang makadaupang-palad ang mga sikat na manunulat sa lahat ng panahon.

"Writing is a continous study."

Ang pagsusulat ay walang katapusang pag-aaral. Hindi nagtatapos ang pag-aaral sa unibersidad, kundi sa pagpalaot sa totoong buhay.

Tumingin kayo sa mga bagay na pula, ang tanong: ilang berde ang inyong nakita. Ganoon ang pagsusulat, talagang lalawakan ang scoop. Trabaho talaga ng manunulat na ipakita ang hindi nakikita ng iba.
Ang tumayo sa karakter ng iba. Halimbawa ay nagsusulat ka tungkol sa taong grasa, dapat alam mo ang pakiramdam ng isang taong grasa. Hahaha! Hindi ko sinabi na ampunin mo ang taong grasa o mag-anyo kang taong grasa. Responsable talaga tayo sa ating mga sinusulat. At dapat ay alam natin kung ano ang ating isinusulat, ang format. Isang imbitasyon ang dinaluhan ko para tumayong guest speaker sa First Julugan Prose-Writing Workshop, na inorganisa ng Cavite Young Writers Association, Inc., a community-based literary organization na naglalayon na pasiglahin ang kamalayan ng mga Kabitenyo sa sining, literatura, historya at kultura. Ang pagtalakay sa popular writing in the local context ay napuno ng masiglang interksiyon at aryadong kuru-kuro. Prose is writing that resembles everyday speech. Napakahalaga ng clarity of ideas . Ang pagiging makapukaw interes ng pamagat. Ang pagiging buo ng karakter. Ang direksiyon ng istorya. Ang kabuluhan ng paksa. Totoo, para maging epektibong manunulat ay marami pa rin tayong dapat malaman. Hindi pa ito nagtatapos sa aking nalalaman. Tingnan mo nga naman ke Lester Dimaranan, Editor-in-chief ng Julugan Weekly ko pa nalaman na meron palang grupo ng mga kabataan dito sa Cavite na nagsusulong ng kamalayan sa mundo ng malikhaing pagsulat. At kay Ronald Verzo, Presidente ng CYWAI ko narinig na sa Cavite pala nagmula ang magagaling na awtor na sina Efren Abueg at Eros Atalia. Lucky, bakit hindi mo agad sinabi na magkikita kami. Para akong isang fan na naghihintay sa autograph ng mga idol na padating.

Pero kung totoo ito, kasindami na siguro ng buhangin sa dagat ang magagandang true-to-life story sa mundo. Ang buhay ay marami pa ring twist. Ang mga nursery rhyme na paulit-ulit na binibigkas ng mga paslit ay nakakapukaw ng interes at kamalayan sa malayang daigdig ng isang bata. At kahit sinong bata sa lahat ng panahon ay kayang bigkasin ng paulit-ulit ang tulang ito : Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are? Up above the world so high , like a diamond in the sky.

Nursery rhymes bring back fond memories of your childhood.

Noong maliit ako ay may paborito akong tula na ganito ang linya: Ako'y tutula, mahabang-mahaba, abot sa Quiapo tapos na po. Ang tulang iyon siguro ang naging inspirasyon ko bilang pambato ng eskuwela sa on-the-spot poetry writing contest. Naalala ko noon na sa bawat panalo ay ipinapaskel sa poste ng eskuwela ang pangalan ko. Pakiramdam ko nga pag-aari ko na ang posteng iyon. Hindi ko alam na pumasok na pala iyon sa akin senses, nagkaroon ako ng pandama, nadinig ko ang bulong ng dahon, nakita ko ang buhay sa puno at nalasahan ko ang bungang hindi pa tumutubo.

Makulay ang mundo ng mga bata, parang Komiks. Malikot ang guniguni. Madalas ding takutin ang sarili. Siya si Supekid tagapagtanggol ng mga api, kalaban ng masasama at kampon ng dilim. Masarap balikan ang pagiging bata. Noong maliit pa ako ay nakakakita ako ng maliliit na tao na tumatakbo sa paligid ng bahay. Para akong baliw na laging tinitingnan ang ilalim ng tsinelas ko sa pangamba na baka natapakan ko ang maliliiit na taong iyon. Lumaki ako sa tahanan na maraming bawal. Bawal lumabas dahil may nangunguha ng bata at iluluto sa malaking kawali. Maraming anyo ng panakot. Matulog nang maaga dahil may gumagalang bampira. Maraming tanong na bakit sa isip na ang sagot ay bakit din. Bakit ako patatalo sa takot. Ako si Sputnik. "Balatong, balatong piniritong tutong...nagkalutong-lutong", sabay sigaw ng, "Sputnik!" Paano ko makakalimutan noong bumuo ako ng grupo ng mga rebeldeng bata para batuhin ang mga naglalakihang manikin sa eskaparate ng Toppers sa may Taft, mga manikin na ayon sa sabi-sabi ay nagiging bampira sa gabi. Ang pagbaba ng moralidad, kawalan ng disenteng trabaho, pang-aabuso sa kapaligiran ay dahil diumano sa parang lobong hinihipan na pagdami ng tao. Sabi ng babaing ayaw magbuntis pero taun-taon ay nanganganak ay disgrasya lang daw ang pagkakabuntis sa kanya. Gaano naman kasakit kapag sinabing disgrasya ka lang na lumitaw sa mundo. Wala pa ring malinaw na programa para sawatain ang population bomb, lalo pa nga at tinututulan ng simbahan ang artipisyal na paraan sa birth control. At para ipakita sa atin na bukod sa ating mundo ay may iba pa palang mundo, at may iba pang uri ng mga nilalang. Ang komiks na isinalarawan bilang makulay at kawili-wiling babasahin ay lalo pang pinaghusay ng mga dibuhista sa komiks. Kahanga-hanga ang mga hagod at pitik ng brush ng mga artist na nagpapagalaw sa eksena, nagbibigay buhay sa karakter. Nasa mga kamay ng alagad ng sining ang esensiya ng pagiging malikhain. Sa mundo ng pagsusulat ay natuto akong maging lagalag, kung saan-saan nakakarating ang utak. Umikut-ikot sa bundok, tumawid sa ilog, tinawid ko pati bawal.Nag-iba ang tingin ko sa mundo. I see the world in different angle. Nag-iba ang tingin ko sa tao. I understand people in a much higher level. At sa bawat lakad ko ay parati pa ring natitisod. Ang road map ay makinis pero sa totoong buhay ito ay lubak-lubak. Dito ako nadapa at dito rin natutong bumangon. Ang mundo pala ng literatura, sining, komiks pati na buhay mismo ay nagiging napakayaman at makahulugan dahil sa paglalakbay. Life is a continous journey.
